FSL to expand their portfolio

FSL are celebrating a year of 60% growth, with ambitious plans to add more services to their existing portfolio. Managing Director, Thomas New says the new developments are a natural progression.

"We have forged a niche over the past 15 years managing the quality of perishable foods for large leisure and catering operators. We will be adding to our services during 2008 with the establishment of a training division offering courses accredited by the CIEH and RIPH, including the complete range of Food Safety and HACCP courses."

The company’s biggest growth during the year was in the provision of technical Quality Assurance staff on a temporary basis to companies wanting to avoid gaps in cover during recruiting periods or vacations. This service will be rolled out to the industry at large in January.

Claridges Rancid Meat

Tom New, Managing Director, has provided the following response to the news story regarding the Dorchester and Claridges rancid meat situation.

"Tom New, MD of quality assurance specialists Food Surveys Ltd, believes that an effective programme of 3rd party quality audits should ensure that a minimum of 98% of the perishable foods you buy meets the purchase specification completely. Of the 2% that does fail the specification, less than a third should comprise product unfit for consumption. In this way, assurance in terms of product quality is also linked to reductions in waste and improved yield."
